Southbrook Resource Recovery Park will be closed on the following days over this period:
Tuesday 25 December
Wednesday 26 December
Tuesday 1 January
Southbrook Resource Recovery Park will be open normal days and hours (Monday to Saturday
8:30am to 4:30pm & Sunday 12:30pm to 4:30pm) apart from the above three days (Christmas
Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day).
Payment at the transfer station kiosk and ReSale Store is by cash or EFTPOS (no credit cards).
Business cheques are acceptable with suitable identification. Clean & sorted recycling, and WDC-
branded refuse bags, accepted at no charge. The ReSale Store accepts household goods that are
suitable to be on-sold.
Oxford Transfer Station
High Street, Oxford
Oxford transfer station will be open normal days and hours (Friday 12:30pm to 4:30pm & Sunday
12:00 noon to 4:30pm) over this period.
Payment at the kiosk is by cash only - EFTPOS is not available at this site. Business cheques are
acceptable with suitable identification. Clean & sorted recycling and WDC-branded refuse bags
accepted at no charge.
Council Refuse And Recycling Collections
Tuesday WDC kerbside refuse and recycling collections will be carried out on the prior Saturday
over the Christmas and New Year period. Affected areas are:
Northern Rangiora and Commercial Area: (High Street [both sides] and properties north of High St,
plus Park Street, and Commercial area between King St and East Belt extending to Queen St)
Tuesday 25 December Refuse & Week 1 Recycling Collection day changed to the preceding
Saturday, 22 December
Tuesday 1 January
Refuse & Week 2 Recycling Collection day changed to the preceding
Saturday, 29 December
All other kerbside collections will be carried out on their usual days over this holiday period.
Week 1 Recycling collections will be carried out on the week starting Monday 24 December,
(excepting Christmas Day Tuesday changed as above)
Week 2 Recycling collections will be carried out on the week starting Monday 31 December,
(excepting New Year's Day Tuesday changed as above)
Collection times may vary during the holiday period. WDC branded refuse bags and recycling
wheelie bins must be placed out for collection by 7am. Only official Waimakariri District Council
refuse bags will be collected. Please contact the Council on (03) 311 8900 if you experience any
problems with your kerbside collections. You can take excess recycling (must be clean & sorted by
type) and WDC-branded refuse bags to Southbrook RRP for free.

Earthquake Relief Fund
Thanks to the support of businesses and people from around
New Zealand and, in some cases, internationally, the
Waimakariri Earthquake Relief Fund was established
following the 4 September 2010 earthquake. The
Waimakariri District Council oversees the application of
If you have suffered hardship as a result of the 4 September
2010 earthquake or the 22 February 2011 aftershock, you
can apply for a relief grant (normally $250) from the fund to
be spent as you see fit.
To be eligible for a grant:
• At the time you apply, you must be experiencing hardship
as a result of the Canterbury earthquake,
• You must have been resident in the Waimakariri District at
the time of the earthquakes,
• Only one application will be considered for each household
(flatmates should apply jointly and bank account details should
match the names on the lease) and the grant is given on a one-

Prohibited Fire Season
Notice is hereby given that pursuant to provisions of the Forest and
Rural Fires Act 1977, a PROHIBITED FIRE SEASON is extended over
the whole of the Waimakariri District Council's jurisdictional area
from midnight Thursday 20 December 2012 until further notice.
During the Prohibited Fire Season, it is an offence to light any
fires in the open air. Gas barbecues lit in approved containers
and situated in an area served by a domestic water supply are not
deemed to be fires in the open. For further information contact Tim
