They're working on the
Work on the extension of Woodend Community Centre begins
early this month (September).
The extension works will provide new meeting and conference
room spaces and upgraded changing, kitchen and storage
facilities. In addition the car park and external landscaping
will be upgraded.
We expect to complete the upgrade by April 2013.
During the construction period there will be times where
you will experience noise, vibrations and dust and from time
to time there will be heavy machinery on School Road. The
contractor will keep these to a minimum.

Nominations are open for the Community Service Awards 2012 --
and Waimakariri District Council needs your help.
"We'd like to hear from anyone who has a neighbour, a colleague,
a friend or an acquaintance who deserves consideration for a
Community Service Award" says Mayor David Ayers.
"Often these are people who prefer to not be in the spotlight,
but who are champions in our community because of their years
of work behind the scenes.
"We're also looking for people who have done an exceptional
action -- a single act of bravery or significant effort that benefited
the people of the community around them.
"These people deser ve to be recognised for the great
contributions they make to our district."
People who have received royal or national honours for their
ser vice or actions are also eligible to be considered for a
Community Service Award.
Community Service Awards are presented every year, with this
year's ceremony being held on Wednesday 31 October.
Nomination forms are available from the Council's Ser vice
Centres and Libraries at Rangiora, Kaiapoi and Oxford, and on
the website www.waimakariri.govt.nz. Nominations close on
Monday 24 September 2012.

The Waimakariri District Council is seeking to
appoint an Accounts Officer in the Finance
Department in Rangiora, North Canterbury.
The Waimakariri District offers a wide range of
