Hurunui Recycling (HR) was
formed 22 years ago when

''As a master craftsman and
woodcarver I create each piece

inlaid veneers. Much of my
furniture takes its cues from the

Victorian furniture styles,'' says
owner Stephen Laurie.

apprentice, I sold my car to buy
three woodwork machines while
renting a small workshop space in
the Kaiapoi Mill, worked nights
and weekends making furniture to

then in 1985 at age 23 left my
